Today’s feature instructor is Fred Rodgers, who has been leading workshops at both the Black Hills and Tampa Bay Photo Shootouts for the past three years. He is also the co-host of “The Fotobug” podcast with Jim Caldwell. You could say the Tampa Bay Photo Shootout is all Fred’s fault, his connections with Pinellas Technical College (PTC) opened up the door for us to make having a Photo Shootout in our own backyard a reality.
Fred is a professional educator, having taught in a variety of fields including horticulture, information technology, network support, and video production. Currently he is the IT Department chair at Pinellas Technical College in Clearwater. As a photographer, Fred has traveled throughout Florida to capture the unique beauty of its flora and fauna. His specialties include wildlife, landscapes, HDR, macro, videography and playing in dirt with green things.
He has co-hosted “The Fotobug” with Jim since 2009, which started originally as an audio only podcast. Despite having faces meant for radio 😉 , they took the podcast to full video, and the “Fotobug” has grown to a blog and web magazine reaching thousands of subscribers .
At the upcoming Tampa Bay Photo Shootout, he will be teaching HDR Done Right, Critter Close Ups: Frogs, Bugs, and Reptiles, Birds of Prey, and Flowers and Foliage. You can see more of his work and his bio on the Photo Shootout site, as well as on the www.thefotobug.com.
